Discovery

Understand the system before deciding what to build.

Discovery is a paid professional engagement that creates a shared, evidence-based understanding of how the business works and what should change next.

Start a Discovery

The RD Method

Four clear stages that turn business understanding into a system that can keep evolving.

  1. 01

    Understand

Find the real problem, map the current system and make constraints visible.

  2. 02

    Design

Define responsibilities, information flows, rules and the smallest useful change.

  3. 03

    Deliver

Build, connect and validate the solution with the people who will use it.

  4. 04

    Evolve

Operate, measure and improve as the business and its system change.

What becomes clear before deciding

Why it exists

Technology decisions made too early often optimize one local problem and create another. Discovery reveals relationships, constraints and opportunities before implementation begins.

How we collaborate

We work with the people who operate, manage and depend on the business system. Workshops, interviews and existing materials are used to test assumptions—not replace client knowledge.

What we examine

Value chains, processes, roles, decisions, information flows, business rules, existing systems, friction, risks and the conditions required for adoption.

What the client contributes

Access to relevant people and materials, transparency about pain and constraints, participation in validation, and ownership of business decisions.

What it enables

A clearer problem definition, a mapped current state, design principles, priorities, risks, and a grounded recommendation for the next engagement.

What comes next

The outcome may point to process change, integration, a focused digital solution, a custom business system—or no immediate build at all.

DISCOVERY

What the engagement is designed to produce

The exact scope is agreed before work begins. A focused Discovery typically produces decision-ready artifacts such as:

  • A validated definition of the business problem
  • A map of the relevant current state and information flows
  • Explicit constraints, risks and unresolved business decisions
  • Prioritized opportunities and system design principles
  • A grounded recommendation for the next engagement—or a decision not to build
RDSTS does not claim to discover every bottleneck alone. The client experiences the pain; RDSTS helps expose the systemic causes and relationships around it.

DISCOVERY

Before we build the solution, let’s understand the system.
